Last Day at Tokyo Disney

Today was our last day to take in all that is Tokyo Disney. We started at Disneyland where we were able to film some of the people running to the fastpass line for the new Monsters Inc. ride, then hopped back over to DisneySea, which is just too incredible to not re-visit on our last day here. We were able to catch a walking tour of the Journey to the Center of the Earth ride line (yes, a tour of a line. It’s the best they could do since the ride is down for repairs), and the cast member was kind enough to read from an english script so that we could understand the story line. Arigatou Gozaimasu, Ueno!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

We jumped back over to Disneyland to catch the Tokyo Disneyland Dreamlights electrical parade, which was amazing. They actually have designated sitting areas along the parade route, which is very thoughtful. They understand that after walking around for 10 or more hours, guests don’t really want to stand for a parade at night. Back home, cast members are constantly telling people to get up. Torture! I must say that I think I enjoyed this parade more than any other at Disney because I wasn’t thinking “ouch, my back/feet/legs” the entire time. Hint, hint Disneyworld…

Watch the Dreamlights

Four days was just the right amount of time to see everything and do everything we wanted to do here, but we’re still a little sad to be moving on. Tomorrow, however, we will be catching our first shinkansen to Kyoto, where the theme of our Japan visit will shift dramatically from Disneymania to history and culture. We’re using the Takkyubin service for our luggage this time - we paid to have our bags forwarded on to our next destination to avoid doing the rush hour train-hopping-with-luggage madness. It’s a little unsettling to hand our bags over to people who hardly understand us, and whom we can hardly understand, and trust that everything will make it to our Kyoto hotel safely. We’ll see if everything is there when we get to the hotel tomorrow…cross your fingers for us!
